OK – so –what is he – or she? I could not find him/her in my Book of British Birds – but then I didn’t really know what I was looking for. But very friendly as he/she allowed me to get this close with just an iPhone – no long distance lenses.
(Thank you, Tom and Sarah. As Tom [from California] says – That fine bird is your English Jay….your version of our Blue Jay.)
Beautiful on the heath again today. Although sadly, the authorities have now closed Kenwood Park so I am not going to be able to track the azaleas and rhododendrons for you. I do hope it is open again by the time the handkerchief tree come into leaf.
Meanwhile, how about these buds, just bursting to break free of their shiny bronze casings.
Or these tiny lime green leaves, fanning out from their velvety pale green buds.
Tomorrow – back to Dorset…..
