An April and May with lots of sun and no rain – and a June with lots of rain and no sun – has meant that my lawn has scarcely grown at all. Mind you, to call it a lawn somewhat flatters it as a smooth green sward it definitely is not. However, I did think yesterday that I should get out the mower. But, while drinking a cup of coffee, I watched a bee hoovering its way through the clover – and opted for hand trimming the longer bits and leaving the mower in the shed.

The house, meanwhile, is swathed in its scaffolding under which there is much activity.
Much of this is on the roof which we are replacing – and it is pretty spectacular up there!
We are inserting a dormer window in the front bedroom and this required a lead roof. I did not see the specialists who did the leading but it really is a thing of beauty – just look how smooth….
…and look at the the detail on the ends of the ribs – or whatever it is that they are called….
In my bit inside not much has happened as yet – but you will be glad to see that when inside the cats are observing social distancing rules….
