This was, I think, the last day of our mini heatwave but it was certainly steamy so once again I went in search of water. First stop, Kenwood lake and some rather unusual ducks.

I then walked on through the woods and down to the boating pond, expecting to see quite a few people – but nowhere as many as there actually were – quite a few of whom were swimming or at least paddling in what is most definitely not designated as a swimming pond. I watched in the distance for a while and then heard the sound of a police car coming up behind me….
At least the dog looks cool….
Anyhow, expecting the police the police to start laying about them and at least demanding that the bathers got out of the pond, I followed them round. But rather to my surprise they didn’t do anything. Just sat in their car and broadcast undecipherable messages on their tannoy, to which no one paid the least attention, presumably telling people to get out of the water.
Since it was still steamingly hot, I was determined to find some running water somewhere but, actually it was in rather short supply. So on my way back I stopped off by the water fountain and just listened to it run…..
